HUNTINGTON - After losing to Akron in its last meet the Marshall swimming and diving team will host its first home event of the 2009 spring campaign Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Ohio University in the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium.

"Ohio is a great team as always," Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus said. "They were conference champs last year in the Mid-American Conference and they are in the top-five in the mid-major poll this year."

Marshall will look for big performances out of its divers once again. Senior Siobhan Schuurman failed to win either the one-meter or three-meter dives against Akron but has dominated the boards all season.

Junior Ally Melinksy won the 200-yard breaststroke by nearly two full seconds against the Zips and will try to carry that energy into Tuesday's contest.

"Ohio will come ready to compete and swim fast," Kraus said. "We need to step up and use this competition to get better ourselves."

Marshall will have two more home events prior to the Conference USA Championships. The Thundering Herd will host James Madison on Feb. 7 and the Marshall Invitational on Feb. 21-22.
