HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-The Marshall swimming and diving program was honored as a 2014 Spring Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), Executive Director Joel Shinofield announced.
The Team Scholar All American Award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, once in the fall semester and again in the spring to recognize teams achieving a 3.0 in the semester coinciding with the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CCCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
"I am very proud of our continued efforts and success in the classroom,” said Marshall coach Bill Tramel. “Our average went up from 3.25 last semester to 3.35 this semester. While we want to win, it will not come at the expense of academics. This is testimony to our focus and drive and I am most proud of this accomplishment."
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America is the oldest professional organization of college coaches in America. The CSCAA is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
