HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall swimming and diving head coach Bill Tramel announced Friday his first signee at the helm of the Herd with swimmer Mikaya Reynolds.
“We are very excited to have Mikaya join us at Marshall,” Tramel said. “Her times in two events she swam last season as a high school junior would have scored at the 2012 Conference USA Championships. But besides that, she comes from Baylor School. Baylor is one of the best prep schools in the nation. Baylor turns out great students, great athletes and great citizens ever year.”
Reynolds, a resident of Hixson, Tenn. currently attends Baylor School in Chattanooga where the Dan Flack coached team has won the Swimming World National High School Championship three of the past four years, including the 2012 title.
The Tennessee product’s tops times are 2:07.67 in the 200-yard individual medley, 1:06.51 in the 100 breaststroke, and 2:28.48 in the 200 breast.
“She swims for coach Dan Flack. I've known Dan since my days in Chapel Hill, N.C.,” Tramel continued about his first signee. “He has built Baylor swimming & diving into a national power. I know that not only are we getting a great person in Mikaya, but she has been well coached and knows how to work hard. Mikaya is exactly the type of student-athlete we want on our Marshall team.”
