HUNTINGTONG, W.Va. - Carin Ingram, a backstroker from Westfield (Indiana) High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent with Marshall, swimming and diving coach Bill Tramel announced Monday.

Ingram swims for Kyle Messmore at Viper Aquatics, just north of Indianapolis. Listed at 6'1" tall, Ingram's best times are 57.32 in the 100 backstroke and 2:04.19 in the 200 backstroke.

"We were excited about Carin early in the recruiting process," Tramel said. "(Assistant coach) Ian [Walsh] is exceptional at seeking talent and identified Carin as someone we wanted to recruit.  As we got to know her, we were impressed with how well she fit with our team and our goals here at Marshall. Carin will immediately contribute at the championship level, and we are excited to have her on our team."

Ingram shares that sentiment. "Marshall is a perfect fit, both athletically and academically," Ingram said.  "I love the atmosphere on campus and can't wait to be a part of the team next year. Go Herd!"

Ingram is the second signee of 2014 for the Marshall swimming and diving team.
