HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Brianne Mury, a swimmer from Round Rock, Texas has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim at Marshall, head coach Bill Tramel announced Wednesday.
Mury joins Mikaya Reynolds, who signed on with Marshall last week in coach Tramel’s early signing period. Each swimmer will be a member of the Thundering Herd starting in the 2013-14 season.
“We are very happy to have Bree joining us next season,” coach Tramel said. “She primarily swims the backstroke, which we have immediate needs. As we got to know Bree during the recruitment process, it was obvious she is a great fit at Marshall. Our assistant, Sarah Woodbury really took point on Bree's recruitment, being an Austin native herself.”
Mury attends Round Rock High School and her club team is Texas Gold Swimming, where she is coached by Aubrey Knapper.
The Texas native’s top times come in both backstroke events. In the 100-yard back she has a time of 59.60 while in the 200 back her top time is 2:06.68.
“Bree has the potential to become a contributor as a freshman,” Tramel added about Mury. “We have confidence that by the time she arrives at Marshall next fall that the times she achieves in her senior year of high school will be inside the top 16 scoring times at the Conference USA Championships.”
