Emma Lockyer Named C-USA Swimmer of the Week
Lockyer set three-career bests at the Tennessee Invitational
IRVING, Texas — Marshall senior swimmer Emma Lockyer was named Conference USA Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
The award is Lockyer’s first career Conference USA Swimmer of the Week honor.
Lockyer set a trio of career-best at the Tennessee Invitational and helped the Herd earn a sixth place finish at the meet, which included three top-30 teams.
Lockyer posted a 400 IM time of 4:18.60, which qualifies for the NCAA’s “B” standard, is the third-fastest in Conference USA this season and set a new career-best time. Lockyer also set career-bests in the 200 IM (2:04.12) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.77).
"We proud of Emma being named Conference USA Swimmer of the Week. Anytime you are performing your career best is special,” head coach Bill Tramel said
“She has really earned it from her hard work all year. This award is simply the product of her efforts."
Marshall will be back in action on the road Jan. 13 in a tri-meet at Liberty. The Herd will take on the Flames and UNC Asheville at the meet.
