The Thundering Herd women's tennis team downed WVU 6-1 at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Kelcy McKenna arrives at Marshall University following a successful collegiate career at Arizona State University. McKenna will serve as the assistant to head coach John Mercer, and will look to impart her tennis experience, knowledge, and know-how upon the Thundering Herd tennis team. While a student-athlete at Arizona State, McKenna found immense success in the Sun Devil's tennis program. She was a four-year letterwinner who achieved ITA All-American status in singles and doubles, and won multiple tournaments including the 2009 ITA Riviera All-American Tournament, the 2010 Thunderbird, and the 2010 Cal Nike Invitational. McKenna achieved career high ITA rankings of #3 in singles and #16 in doubles, and participated in the NCAA Tournament a total of three times. She also garnered a #1 USTA ranking in singles and doubles for the Pacific Northwest region of the Women's Open Division in 2010, was a PAC-10 First-Team All Conference selection in 2009 and 2011, and was a nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year in 2011.
