Prior to Marshall: Shields joins the Thundering Herd for his first season as the women's tennis assistant coach.

· Tennis team member, 2004-2008 Boise State University. Captain of team for lasttwo years

· Three-time All-American 2005-2007

· Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year 2007, WAC Freshmen of the year 2005

· 2007 National Sportsmanship award for College tennis

· Eight times elected first-team All-WAC (four singles and four doubles)

· Four years Academic All-region and All-Conference, Academic All-American 2007

· SAAC (Student-athlete advisory committee) member

· Pursued a professional career in tennis before college,

· Colorado athlete of the year 2005 and 2007 (given by the Colorado Tennis Association)

A native of Grand Junction, Colo., Shields has one brother, Clancy, who also plays tennis at Boise State.
