LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 34 Marshall University tennis team improved its record to 12-3 overall as the Thundering Herd took a 4-3 decision over the Liberty Flames Saturday afternoon.
The Herd had to rally after dropping the doubles point as the Flames won on courts one and three. Marshall’s sole victory in doubles came on court two as Catherine Kellner and Maria Voscekova topped Richard/Sheeran 8-3, moving their record to 10-5 as a duo.
Dominika Zaprazna suffered her first doubles loss of the season as she and Kristina Koprcina lost on court one. This was the second-straight match she teamed up with a different partner as Michaela Kissell missed her second match in a row.
Zaprazna, however, would get redemption in singles as she defeated Jenkins on court one, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (retired). Kellner registered her team-high 12th victory as she was victorious in second singles, winning 6-4, 6-0 against Fick.
The back end of roster wrapped up the victory for the Herd as Kara Kucin and Karli Timko were triumphant on courts five and six. Kucin topped Lobel, 6-4, 6-4, while Timko breezed past Domenech, 6-1, 6-1.
The Herd is home for six of its final seven matches beginning next weekend, March 18th, as Marshall plays host to No. 66 Winthrop.
