Herd Falls to No. 50 Tulane, 4-1

MONTGOMERY, Ala.-Marshall's Dana Oppinger defeated Tulane's Jenny Hois 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, but the 50th-ranked Green Wave emerged victorious for a 4-1 win at the Blue-Grey Classic on Friday.

Tulane, who was seeded fourth in the eight-team draw, improved to 9-5 overall, while the Herd fell to 6-7.

MU's Dominika Zaprazna and Maria Voscekova were defeated 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, while Karlyn Timko and Oppinger fell 8-3 at No. 3. Ellie Ball and Kara Kucin's match at No. 2 was not finished.

Zaprazna dropped her match 6-2, 6-2 to 92nd-ranked Klara Vyskocilova at No. 1 singles and Voscekova lost 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3. Kucin suffered a 6-4, 6-1 loss at No. 6 singles. Kai Broomfield's match at No. 4 went unfinished as did Timko's match at No. 5.

The Herd will face Boise State, who dropped a 4-0 Friday decision to second-seeded Ohio State, on Saturday.
