Herd Tops Boise State, 4-2

MONTGOMERY, Ala.-The Marshall tennis team scooped up the double point and then took three singles matches to knock off Boise State 4-2 Saturday afternoon at the Blue-Grey National Tennis Classic.
The Herd evened its record at 7-7, while Boise dropped to 7-5.
Marshall captured the doubles point when Dominika Zaprazna and Maria Voscekova won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles over Boise's 58th-ranked Marlena and Manuela Pietzuch and Dana Oppinger and Karlyn Timko emerged with a 9-7 win at No. 3. Ellie Ball and Kara Kucin dropped the No. 2 match by a score of 8-6.
Zaprazna won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Voscekova won 7-6, 6-1 at No. 3. Timko won her seventh-straight match as she took the No. 6 match in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 6-0). Oppinger lost the No. 2 match 6-1, 6-1 and Ball fell in the No. 4 contest by the score of 7-6, 6-4. Kai Broomfield's match at No. 5 was unfinished with her trailing 1-0 in the third set after splitting the first two.
The Herd will attempt to win the backdraw Sunday when it faces Pepperdine in the event's final day of competition. The Waves defeated Michigan State 4-0 on Saturday.
