Waves Too Much for Marshall at Blue-Grey Classic|

MONTGOMERY, Ala.-Marshall's Karlyn Timko won her eighth-straight match, but it was Pepperdine who carried the day as the Waves defeated the Thundering Herd 4-1 Sunday on the final day of competition at the Blue-Grey Classic.
Pepperdine improved to 2-9 overall, while the Herd dropped to 7-8.
Timko won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles over Danielle Feneridis for the Herd's lone point. The Herd's Dominka Zaprazna (6-3, 6-4), Dana Oppinger (6-1, 6-2) and Maria Voscekova (6-3, 6-1) lost in straight sets at Nos. 1-3 singles, all to ranked opponents. MU's Ellie Ball split sets (1-6, 7-5) with Pepperdine's Michaela Capannolo at No. 4, while Kai Broomfield dropped the first set (1-6) at No. 5. Both matches went unfinished.
Zaprazna and Voscekova lost to the 13th-ranked tandem of Khunpak Issara and Lorraine Guillermo 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Marshall's Ball and Kara Kucin also suffered an 8-3 setback at No. 2 to clinch the doubles point for Pepperdine.
The Herd will take on UNLV and SMU in Las Vegas next Friday and Sunday, respectively.
