Herd Tennis Nets Road Win at Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio-For the second straight match, Marshall swept the doubles point en route to a 4-3 win, this time at Cincinnati, on Friday afternoon.

The Thundering Herd improved to 12-10 with the win.

Marshall's No. 1 doubles team of Dominika Zaprazna and Kara Kucin won 8-1 and the tandem of Maria Voscekova and Ellie Ball emerged with an 8-6 win at No. 2. Karlyn Timko and Dana Oppinger won 8-5 at No. 3.

Zaprazna had a convincing win at No. 1 singles, by virtue of her 6-3, 6-1 win. Kucin put MU up 3-0 when she captured the No. 6 match by the tally of 6-2, 6-1. Ball clinched the win with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 win at No. 5 moments later. Oppinger then dropped the No. 2 match 6-2, 6-4 which preceded Kai Broomfield's 7-5, 4-6 (10-6) loss at No. 4. Cincinnati's last point came at No. 3 where Voscekova fell 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.

The Herd will now turn its focus to the Conference USA Championships, which begin Thursday in Houston, Texas.
