Tennis Completes Day Two at UVA
Timko and Oppinger Still Alive in Doubles Play

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The ladies of the Marshall University tennis team completed day two at the UVA Fall Invitational on Saturday and will remain in Charlottesville for the final rounds of play on Sunday.
The only players left in contention on the winner’s side of the brackets for Marshall are Dana Oppinger and Karli Timko in the B Flight doubles tournament. The freshman and junior combo won its semifinal match over South Carolina’s Alawi and Martin (8-2) to advance to a finals showdown with Wake Forest’s Forman and Zhang at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Timko was also the only singles player left in contention for Marshall after day one, but fell in the semifinals of the B Flight to UNC Greensboro’s Dilara Yurtkuran (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) and will now play in the third place match against Greensboro’s Annette Rios at noon. Elsewhere, sophomore Ellie Ball and senior Dominika Zaprazna will play in fifth place singles matches on the winners’ sides of their respective A-1 and B Flight brackets, also at noon.
