@Herd_Tennis Continues Strong Doubles Play at South Carolina Invite

Anna Smith is 3-1 overall through the first two days of the South Carolina Fall Invitational.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Marshall women’s tennis team rebounded after a poor start to take a pair of doubles matches Saturday at the South Carolina Fall Invitational.
The doubles pair of Anna Smith and Daniela Dankanych won a doubles match for the second consecutive day. Stephanie Smith and Brooke Lashway won their first doubles match of the invitational.
The Herd opened play Saturday with singles matches against host South Carolina. The Herd failed to win a match. Stephanie SmithBrooke Lashway, Marija Bogicevic and Ana Marhuenda each fell in straight sets. Anna Smith and Daniela Dankanych each took the first set of their respective matches, but both fell in three sets.
The Herd closed play with doubles matches against James Madison and Liberty. Anna Smith and Dankanych defeated Michaela Kluska and Kimmy Herrock of James Madison, 6-2. Stephanie Smith and Lashway defeated James Madison’s Emma Petersen and Anna Makarova, 6-4. Bogicevic and Marhuenda fell to Liberty’s pairing of Rebekah Anderson and Ashley Bongart, 6-2.
