The Herd started the tournament at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning, with No. 4 seeded Dominika Zaprazna squaring off against Richmond’s Helen Cunningham in the A Flight. In the B Flight, Marshall encountered its only two singles losses of the tournament so far, as Maria Voscekova fell to the University of Virginia’s No. 2 seed Molly O’Koniewski in three sets, and No. 4 seed Karli Timko was upset by Winthrop’s Andressa Garcia 6-1 and 6-0. Both ladies will now play 10:00 a.m. consolation matches on Saturday.

And lastly, there was the C Flight, No. 2 seeded doubles team of Ball and Timko, who rode a first round bye to a quarterfinal victory over Davidson’s Dicconson and Wood. The Marshall pair won the match 8-3, and will now face RIC’s Kandinata and Sims at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
