CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- The ladies of the Thundering Herd tennis team have been hard at work this week in preparation for the ITA Kickoff Weekend being hosted by the University of North Carolina Tarheels this Saturday and Sunday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

No. 61 ranked Marshall is 1-1 for the season following a defeat at Kentucky last weekend, but will be looking to avenge the early-season loss and return to winning ways with a victory over the No. 8 ranked Tarheels on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

UNC defeated the Herd 4-1 in singles action at the Kitty Harrison Invitational this past fall, but watched as Marshall’s duo of Dominika Zaprazna and Maria Voscekova went on to claim the tournament’s doubles crown. The Tarheels are 3-1 for the year, having just defeated the University of Tennessee 5-2 on Sunday.

As a preliminary round of the ITA National Indoor Team Championships, the winner of Saturday’s showdown will advance to play the winner of the Brown vs. VCU match on Sunday for a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The Championships, hosted by UVA, are set to take place from February 10-13.
