Marshall Meets No. 26 Purdue, Miami (Ohio) this Weekend
Herd tennis continues home stretch with Saturday-Sunday matches

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall tennis will look to get back on the winning track when it faces No. 26 Purdue Saturday at 11 a.m. and Miami (Ohio) Sunday at 11 a.m.

Marshall (2-3) enters the weekend on a three-game losing tilt and will face a pair of teams that dealt the Thundering Herd 7-0 sweeps during the 2012 season.
Purdue (1-1) defeated No. 32 Washington State 4-3 in its season opener two weeks ago but fell to No. 14 Northwestern 4-3 the very next day.
Serving in the Boilermaker’s number one spot, sophomore Lynda Xepoleas is 0-2 this season despite owning a No. 80 ITA ranking. No. 108 Mara Schmidt is 1-1 at number two.
Miami (Ohio) enters the weekend 2-4 with wins coming over Cincinnati and California (Pa.). In their season opener, the Redhawks fell to No. 49 Indiana 7-0. More recently, Miami suffered a tightly-contested loss to Xavier.
Marshall is led by junior Karli Timko and freshman Dana Oppinger, who have each taken three victories in singles action. Oppinger is 3-0 at five singles.
