HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- For the third weekend in a row, Marshall tennis will play on its home court as it hosts Winthrop and No. 48 Penn State Friday and Sunday at the Huntington Tennis Club.

Friday's match will begin at 4 p.m.  Sunday's match begins at 11 a.m.

In its last time out, the Thundering Herd (3-4) defeated Miami (Ohio) 5-2 to snap a four-match losing skid.  Similarly, the Winthrop Eagles (2-3) broke a stretch of three straight losses by edging Wake Forest 4-3 last Friday.  Winthrop's losses this season came against No. 63 College of Charleston, No. 31 South Carolina, and No. 47 VCU.

Winthrop is led at one singles by No. 107 Yasmine Alkema.

Marshall defeated Winthrop 4-3 last season in a tightly-contested battle that went down to the wire.  Despite being pushed to three sets, sophomore Ellie Ball and senior Kara Kucin came away victorious to help MU win its fifth straight.

Penn State (5-0) boasts an undefeated record and the No. 36-ranked player in the nation in Petra Januskova.  Januskova's only blemish in dual match action came in the form of a straight sets loss to Kentucky's Nadia Ravita.

In last year's meeting, Penn State (then No. 61) defeated Marshall (No. 65) 5-2 after taking five of the six available singles points.  Herd senior Maria Voscekova was the only Marshall victor in singles action.

Penn State will face Winthrop on Saturday.
