HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Marshall University women’s tennis team will put its undefeated home record on the line this Sunday when the Cincinnati Bearcats arrive at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center for a noon showdown.
The Thundering Herd is 11-9 this season and a perfect 6-0 at home, but enters Sunday’s match having lost three of its last four to VCU, Louisville, and Tulsa, respectively. Cincinnati is 7-14 this spring and also arrives having lost three of its last four matches. Like Marshall the Bearcats have defeated West Virginia, but also fallen to Kentucky and Miami of Ohio in matches earlier this season.
Cincinnati will play Louisville on Saturday afternoon before challenging the Herd just one day later in Huntington. Marshall is a dominant 14-1 all-time against Cincinnati, and defeated the Bearcats 6-1 on the road last spring.
Sunday’s noon showdown will also serve as senior day for the Herd’s lone senior, Split, Croatia, native Kristina Koprcina. The senior has enjoyed a successful four years with the program and will be looking to end her home career on a high note with a victory over the visiting Bearcats.
The Cincinnati matchup will be Marshall’s final regular season match before heading west to Memphis for the Conference USA Championships this Thursday. Live stats for the Sunday match versus the Bearcats may be found by clicking the link below.
