IRVING, Texas- Marshall sophomore Maria Voscekova of the Thundering Herd tennis team earned a spot on this year’s Conference USA Women’s Tennis All-Academic Team, giving the Bratislava, Slovakia, native her second academic award of the month as she joined five other ladies in receiving the recognition.

Having already earned a spot on the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll with a team-leading GPA of 3.72, Voscekova now joins the ranks of an elite few as one of only six women’s tennis players to be named to the 2012 team. A two-time member on the Honor Roll, this award marks the first time that Voscekova has earned a place on the All-Academic Team.

The Marshall sophomore played her way to a team-best singles record of 13-6 from the number two spot this spring, and teamed with fellow Slovakian native Dominika Zaprazna to post a 14-4 record on the number one court in doubles. She will be in action with the rest of her Marshall teammates for the C-USA Championships this week, beginning with the first round matchup against UTEP on Thursday.
