IRVING, Texas- Marshall junior Dominika Zaprazna headlined a trio of Thundering Herd tennis players who earned places on the Conference USA Women's Tennis All-Conference Team, claiming First-Team All-C-USA honors after playing to a 10-8 singles record and a 17-4 doubles mark in 2012.
The Bratislava, Slovakia, native represented Marshall at the No. 1 spot in singles and doubles for the entire season, posting an impressive combined record of 27-12 from the first court. Zaprazna's impressive doubles record saw her move up to eighth-place in the Marshall record books for career doubles wins and allowed her to maintain a .781 career winning percentage that has her ranked third-place all-time on the Marshall list. Zaprazna was Third-Team All-Conference last season.
Her fellow Slovakian teammate and doubles partner, Maria Voscekova, was also among those to receive recognition from the league office, claiming Second-Team All-C-USA honors after posting a team-best singles record of 13-6 from the No. 2 court. In doubles, Voscekova teamed-up with Zaprazna at the No. 1 spot and played to a solid mark of 15-4. Overall the Marshall sophomore was 16-5 in doubles play and posted an impressive combined record of 29-11 this spring. The All-Conference award is her second this season after earning First-Team All-Academic recognition last month.
Junior Kara Kucin rounded-out the Thundering Herd trifecta with Third-Team All-C-USA honors that came as a result of the Bellaire, Fla., native's impressive 13-9 record from the No. 4 singles spot. Kucin's 13 wins tied Voscekova for the team lead, and her 11-11 record from the No. 2 doubles court allowed her to post a combined spring record of 24-20. This is the first conference award Kucin has received since being at Marshall.
