Marshall Women's Tennis Playing Well at William and Mary Invitational
The Herd Successful with Six Victories in Second Day Action

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Marshall Thundering Herd tennis team continues its strong play in the second day of the William and Mary Invitational. The Herd brings home six out of eight singles game victorious in Saturday action.
"Again, this is a great tournament and the wins today will bode well for the upcoming season," Marshall head coach John Mercer said. "Schmitt and Soor did great today with both of them advancing to the finals."
Marshall's Kellie Schmitt (Pittsburgh, Pa.) defeated William and Mary opponent Ragini Acharya in the Flight A Singles semifinals in straight matches- 6-2, 6-4. Schmitt will face the #2 seed, Aurelija Miseviciute of Arkansas, in the Flight A Singles final, Sunday morning.
"Karolina Soor had a good win today," Coach Mercer added. "She had improved and will compete in the backdraw final tomorrow."
The Herd's Karolina Soor (Lindesberg, Sweden) defeated Boston College foe Lauren Cash in the Flight B Singles consolation semifinals in straight matches- 6-3, 6-2. Soor will take on Ivana King of Princeton in the Flight B Singles consolation final, Sunday morning.
Marshall will be facing each other in the Flight C Singles backdraw final. Thaddea Lock (Bristol, England) will face teammate Isabel Raich (Austria), Sunday morning.
Marshall's duo of Lock/Raich will face Rowen/Reddin of Cincinnati in the Flight B doubles consolation final, Sunday morning. Also representing the Herd in Flight B doubles is the duo Kashelkina/Jeanne Schwartz (West Palm Beach, Fla.) in the backdraw consolation final.
