Marshall Set for ITA Atlantic Regional
Tennis looks for solid showing in the regionals

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall tennis looks to continue its recent success in the ITA Atlantic Regional which is a qualifier for National ITA Women’s National Championship. The regional tournament is being hosted by Virginia and will be played at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.
The four-day tournament will have singles and doubles competition. All five Herd players will compete in singles while the teams of Karli Timko/Dana Oppinger and Kai Broomfield/Rachael Morales will play in doubles.
“We’re excited to compete this weekend against some great teams and players. It will be a great opportunity for us” Marshall coach John Mercer said.

Marshall has historically done well in this tournament; in 2009 the team of Michela Kissell/ Dominika Zaprazna won the doubles tournament, winning all five matches. Then in 2010, Kissell won the 64-player main draw and was crowned the top player in the Atlantic Region, winning four of six matches in straight sets.
Tennis will return to action Nov. 1-3 in the College of Charleston Halloween Challenge (S.C.).
