The pair defeated 13th ranked tandem, Courtney Nagle and Daria Panova of Oregon 8-6 in the consolation quarterfinal Friday to advance to the semifinal where they fell to Maria Brito and Julie Coin (Clemson) 8-5.
Overall the duo turned in a strong showing at the prestigious tournament, making their mark as the first double team in Marshall and Mid American Conference history to ever qualify for the prestigious event that features the nation's top 32 singles players and top 16 doubles teams.
“This was a great tournament that the University of Michigan hosted”, Head Coach John Mercer said. “We played some very talented teams and to have this opportunity to compete at this level is ideal… it’s good to get this experience to carry us into our spring season and hopefully help us get a NCAA tournament birth.”
The Herd has completed their fall season and will look forward to the up and coming spring season which will kick off January 24th, when the Herd travels to Lexington, Ky., to face the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
