Nov. 8, 2012
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Marshall University tennis team will play in its final tournament of the fall season this Friday through Sunday when it travels to the University of North Carolina for the Kitty Harrison Invitational.
Hosted by the Tar Heels at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center, the Kitty Harrison Invitational will play host to some of the top teams in the region as they compete in singles and doubles tournaments throughout the length of the weekend.
Last season, the Herd’s No. 1 doubles team of Dominika Zaprazna and Maria Voscekova went undefeated in the tournament to claim first-place honors. Following last year’s achievement and the pair’s most recent success at the ITA Atlantic Regional, the duo will be hoping to once again mount a title challenge at UNC.
The action will begin on Friday at 9 a.m. when all three Marshall doubles teams square-off against various opponents in doubles play. The tandem of Zaprazna and Voscekova is the lone duo competing for the Herd in the Blue Flight, while Kai Broomfield and Ellie Ball, and Karli Timko and Dana Oppinger, are representatives in the White Flight. Singles play will commence shortly thereafter when Zaprazna, Voscekova, Timko, and Ball play in respective 10:30 a.m. matches on Friday. Oppinger and Broomfield are set to serve it up in the singles Navy Flight at noon ET.
The tournament’s championship matches for singles and doubles are set to take place on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Complete draws, brackets, and match times may be found by clicking the links below.
