Matt Pfleger is in his first season as a graduate assistant for the Marshall University track and field program. Overseeing the throwing athletes, Pfleger has a long history of experience and knowledge in the event.

As a student-athlete at Kent State University, Pfleger was a 3-time MAC Champion as he claimed two hammer throw titles and one weight throw championship. The Garrettsville, Ohio, native was also a 2-time national qualifier in the hammer throw.

After graduating from Kent State in 2010, Pfleger spent the 2011-12 season coaching track and field at James A. Garfield Middle School while earning his USATF level 1 and 2 (throws) licenses. He also holds a level 1 USA Weight Lifting certificate and is currently working towards an M.S. in Sport Management at Marshall.
