Johnson Garners Assistant Coach of the Year, Jules Athlete of the Year

DI Outdoor Track & Field USTFCCCA Region Award Winners Announced

Willie Johnson is in his second year as a Marshall graduate assistant. Johnson joins the Herd after graduating from Florida State University 2005 with a bachelors of science in sports management and physical education.

Johnson is a two time All-American, four time member of the All-ACC team in the triple jump and the 2005 team captain. While at FSU, the Seminoles earned three ACC indoor championships and two outdoor. Johnson holds the fourth All-Time triple jump record at FSU with a distance of 53'1".

Johnson grew up in Orlando, Fla. with his mother and father, Gloria and W. Damone Johnson, and his five siblings. While attending Edgewater HS in Orlando, Johnson jumped a distance of 48'9", which still stands as the best triple jump in school history.

At Marshall Johnson will be earning his masters degree in athletic administration.
