LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Marshall senior Jasia Richardson produced a 40-10.25 score to win the triple jump as track and field action came to a close Saturday afternoon at the Kentucky Invitational.
Richardson's score in the event was 3.25 inches farther than the rest of the competition.
Sophomore Celia Leonard provided further highlights for the Thundering Herd by winning section one of the women's 3,000m, clocking a personal best time of 10:32.73. Leonard placed 13th overall in the event.
In the 400 meter dash, fellow sophomore Loren Dyer finished 15th with a time of 59.34.
"Overall the team looked a little rusty coming off the holiday break," noted Marshall head coach Jeff Small. "We also had a few athletes out with minor injuries sustained this week. We look forward to getting everyone back for the Gladstein Invitational next week at Indiana."
Marshall will travel to Bloomington, Ind. for the Gladstein Invitational beginning Friday, Jan. 18.
