BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Marshall track and field completed its second meet of the 2013 season Saturday, finishing up competition at the Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana.
Freshman Asia Bange and senior Alecia Daniels, who had qualified for the final in the 60 meter hurdles, finished Saturday’s sprint with times of 9.08s and 9.34s, good enough for 10th and 14th place, respectively.
Shyra Molton, Marshall’s other finalist, completed the 60 meter dash in fifth place with a repeat time of 7.72 seconds. Molton’s fifth place mark was the Thundering Herd’s lowest finish of the day, matching senior Vanessa Jules’ fifth place finish in the 600 meter run. Jules posted a time of 1:39.96.
In other track events, sophomore Moriah Njoku came in 11th place in the 200 meter dash (26.30). In the 400 meter dash, senior Amber Pierson recorded a time of 57.64 which placed her seventh overall.
In the field events, Amanda Hottenstein placed 17th overall in the weight throw, producing a score of 15.43 meters. Freshman Bethany Drury was close behind Hottenstein with a 22nd place finish (14.57m).
Marshall will return to Kentucky for the Rod McCravy Memorial in Lexington, Ky. beginning Friday, Jan. 25.
