The Marshall University women's track team group of throwers earned six top ten finishes at the Niswonger Invitational, Saturday.
Junior LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) finished in the top ten twice with a second place finish in the weight throw (54 feet and one inch), which is a season best for the team. Jones also placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet and three and a half inches.
Senior Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) was another Thundering Herd member to place in the top ten twice. Blankenship finished fourth place in the shot put (43 feet and three and ¾ inches) and 10th in the weight throw event (45 feet and three and ¾ inches).
Senior Britani Keeney (Proctorville, Ohio) finished fifth in the weight throw (51 feet and 11 inches) and sophomore Cara Rumburg placed 10th in the shot put (41 feet and ¼ inches).
Marshall was able to have three other top ten finishes and three other season best set this weekend. Freshman Darby Mullen (Pecks Mill, W.Va.) set a best 2:29.20 in the 800-meter run placing 11th.
Women's track will return to action Feb. 1- 2 when they travel to Akron University to compete in the Akron Open.
