BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Thirteen personal bests were acquired Friday and Saturday as the Thundering Herd track and field team finished up at the Hoosier Hills Invitational hosted by Indiana University at the Gladstein Fieldhouse.
Marshall's weekend was also highlighted by three qualifiers in the 60 meter dash, two finalists in the 60 meter hurdles, and a second place overall finish from the 4x400 relay team.
Crystal Walker, Shyra Molton, and Delkira Maybin each qualified for the 60 meter final. Walker used a personal best 7.76 during the prelims to place fifth while Molton and Maybin took ninth and 11th, respectively. In the finals, the group garnered fifth, sixth, and seventh place with times of 7.91, 7.92, and 7.95.
In the 60 meter hurdles, Asia Bange set a personal best 8.85 in the prelims behind Vanessa Jules who placed third with a time of 8.64. Bange took fifth in the finals (8.98) while Jules placed second (8.67).
Marshall's 4x400 relay team consisting of Shanice Johnson, Amber Pierson, Loren Dyer, and Hadassah Lynch clocked the third fastest time in program history (3:51.09) which was good for second place overall.
Molton, Maybin, and Kearra Haynes came in third, seventh, and eighth, respectively, in the 200 meter dash. Molton set her personal best of 25.11. Maybin's seventh place finish came alongside a seasonal best 25.42. Haynes ran a personal best 25.47.
Jules finished sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.80m.
Loren Dyer narrowly missed the Marshall record in the 600 meter run, finishing third at 1:37.96.
Other members of the Herd to set personal bests were Amber Pierson, Johnson, Celia Leonard, Paige Govey, and Kelley Mortakis.
Pierson and Johnson's records came in 400 meter events, as Pierson took fifth (57.51) in the 400 meter dash, and Johnson took fourth (58.07) in the 400 meter invitational.
For Leonard, Govey, and Mortakis, new career marks were set in the mile. Leonard used a 5:12.55 time to grab eighth place overall while Govey (5:19.87) took 15th and Mortakis (5:21.91) took 16th.
Marshall will compete in one final meet, the Buckeye Tune-Up, prior to the Conference USA Indoor Championships. The Buckeye Tune-Up will take place Friday, Feb. 15.
