Leonard, Maybin Highlight Herd Success at Buckeye Tune-Up

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In the final meet leading up to the Conference USA Indoor Championship, Marshall track and field competed at Ohio State’s Buckeye Tune-Up on Friday. 

Thundering Herd sophomore Celia Leonard was the 1000 meter run winner after producing a time of 3:06.29. 

Senior Delkira Maybin took second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.17 and qualified for the finals in the 60 meter dash, placing fourth in the prelims with a time of 7.74.  Maybin finished fourth in the finals of the 60 meter, shaving one one-hundredth of a second off her preliminary time (7.73). 

Marshall’s Moriah Njoku placed 11th in the 60 meter dash (8.01) and eighth in the 200 meter (26.26). 

In the 400 meter dash, Hadassah Lynch placed eighth at 59.56.

Lexie McEntire matched Lynch with an eighth place finish in the 800 meter run (2:26.76).

In the 300 meter run, Paige Govey took eighth at 10:43.27.

Alecia Daniels finish 11th in the 60 meter hurdles at 9.08. 

In the field events, Marshall saw Amanda Hottenstein take seventh in the shot put with a toss of 13.55 meters. 

Bethany Drury was close behind in eighth (13.30m).


 

 

Hottenstein also took a seventh place finish in the weight throw (15.89).

Marshall will resume action next Friday when it competes in the C-USA Indoor Championship hosted by UAB in Birmingham, Ala.
