@HerdTFXC Closes Out Regular Season at Kentucky Relays

LEXINGTON, Ky.—The Marshall University track and field team concluded its regular season on Saturday at the Kentucky Relays.

The team picked up one individual victory on the day. Sophomore Elena Marchand won the discus throw with a throw of 156 feet, 3 inches (47.64 meters). She won the event by over four feet. Marchand also led the team in the shot put by placing forth with a throw of 43 feet, 4.25 inches (13.21 meters).


Additionally in the shot put, freshman Ericka Budd finished sixth with a throw of 41 ft., 8.50 in. (12.71m) and sophomore Hasana Clark finished eighth with a throw of 39 ft., 7.25 in. (12.07m).

Clark finished fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 160 ft., 6 in. (48.93m) and Budd finished eighth in the event with a throw of 139 ft., 4 in. (42.46m).

Freshman Denisha West finished eighth in the triple jump with a jump of 36 ft., 5 in. (11.10m).

Freshman Jessica Hiteshew finished 10th in the discus throw with a throw of 114 ft., 8 in. (34.95m).


Sophomore Kayla Haywood finished fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.21



In the 100 meter hurdles, three freshmen finished in the top-10. Safiyyah Mitchell finished fifth (14.20), Hannah Carreon finished eighth (14.51), and Torie Derrow finished 10th (14.81).

In the 200 meter dash, junior Andrea Chidester finished eighth with a time of 25.63.

Junior Barkley Castro finished sixth in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:15.43.

The Herd placed two members in the top-10 in the 1500 meter run. Senior Andrea Porter finished seventh with a time of 4:43.00, and junior Madeline Armstrong finished eighth with a time of 4:49.94.
