EL PASO, TEXAS- Sikeetha Shepard-Hall (Houston, Texas) jumped to a new Marshall school record, 20-03.00, in the long jump Friday evening, earning her second place in the event at the Conference USA Championship meet at UTEP.
Shepard-Hall's jump breaks the 16 year old record held by Erica West of 20-01.75.
Also jumping in the event for the Thundering Herd was Quinnyana Brown (Amherst, N.Y.). Brown placed eighth with a leap of 18-01.00, her best jump of the season.
All four of the hammer throwers, Brittani Burke (Proctorville, Ohio), Stacie Belzer (Glassboro, N.J.), Jessica Pissini (Hermitage, Pa.) and Nicole Kyle (Keyser, W.Va.), advanced to the finals. Burke led the Herd in seventh place with a toss of 165-10. Belzer finished next in eighth with a heave of 160-03. Coming in 11th place was Pissini with a distance of 142-00. Kyle rounded out the finals in 14th with her throw of 137-02. All of the throws are season best distances for the four student-athletes.
Danyell Garner (Logan, W.Va.) competed in the heptathlon and earned Marshall two points by finishing in seventh place with a score of 3927.
In the shot put, LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) was the top Marshall finisher in 10th with a distance of 41-04.25. Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) and Pissini came in 12th and 13th with throws of 40-11.00 and 38-05.50.
Stephanie Achilles (Deptford, N.J.) earned 21st in the 1500m with a time of 5:28.85.

(Spencer, W.Va.) earned 18th with a time of 2:27.81.
Breanna Jones (Huntington, W.Va.) was 11th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.75. The top seven runners qualified for the finals that will run on Saturday.
Carmisa Morris (Greenville, S.C.) finished the 100m preliminaries in 14th with her time of 12.11. Morris also ran in the 200m and finished in 10th place with a time of 24.45, just two-tenths of a second slower then the school record.
Xavier Richards (Kingston, Jamaica) ran in the 400m and finished 10th place. Her time of 57.37 is her fastest time of the season in the event.
Marshall finished in 11th place in the javelin when Kwema Phillander (Siparia, Trinidad) launched the javelin a distance of 115-00.
The meet will conclude today, Saturday, May 13.
