SEASON IN REVIEW
The Marshall track and field team tied or broke 14 school records during the 2016-17 season. The full school record book can be found here.
Including cross country, Herd athletes placed six athletes on All-Conference USA teams (cross county-Daniel Green, Andrea Porter, Adriana Cook; indoor track and field-Safiyyah Mitchell, Elena Marchand; outdoor track and field-Alexis Montes).
Marshall had three NCAA East Preliminary Championship qualifiers, which was the most since 2013 (four).
The Herd as a team finished seventh at both the Conference USA Indoor and Outdoor Championships. For indoor, it was the highest ever finish and outdoor it was the second ever highest finish.
“I think it may have been our best year we have had here at Marshall,” head coach Jeff Small said. “Three All-Conference USA cross country runners, our highest Conference USA finish indoors, our second best outdoor finish. Three NCAA qualifiers and all those school records made it a very memorable year.”
The program resumes when cross country begins in August. Follow the team on Twitter @HerdTFXC for updates throughout the summer and more information. #IAmBecauseWeAre
