GENEVA, Ohio- The SPIRE Institute’s year old, 240,000 sq. ft. indoor track and field complex will play host to the Marshall Thundering Herd and another 50-plus NCAA track and field teams this weekend as the SPIRE Midwest Indoor Track and Field Open takes place Friday through Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.
Still finding its way through the early stages of the 2011-12 season, Marshall enters the meet on the heels of last weekend’s Gladstein Invitational and will look to improve upon its early season marks in what will be the university’s fourth meet of the year.
The competition will commence on Friday for the Herd as Leslie Thomas, Kelley Mortakis, and Julia Galloway take part in the women’s 5K at 7:45 p.m. The action will then resume on Saturday morning when Brittany Stanley, Elizabeth Barnhart, and Amanda Hottenstein participate in the weight throw at 10:00 a.m., and conclude with Marshall’s 4x400 relay team of Loren Dyer, Brittany Carey, Hadassah Lynch, and Alecia Daniels running its race at 6:05 p.m. later that day.
