Herd Track and Field Travels to Liberty for Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational
Two-day meet begins Friday
HUNTINGTON, W.Va.—Marshall track and field travels for the second time during the 2017-18 season Friday to Liberty University for the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational. The two-day meet begins Friday at 3 p.m.
The Herd will compete against 16 other schools including two power-five teams in Maryland and South Carolina, a squad that is currently ranked 14th in the nation. Marshall in the only Conference USA team set to compete in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The meet is the final regular season road meet for Marshall during the indoor season. The Herd has two more indoor meets this season, hosting the Chipotle Marshall Invitational February 9-10 and traveling to the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama Feb. 17-18.
At 5 p.m., the distance medley relay is scheduled to compete for the first time this season. The scheduled four in the relay for Marshall is Barkley Castro, Talor Wilkerson, Mary Eliza Zulauf, and HollyAnn Swann.
The 5000 meter run is the next scheduled competition for Thundering Herd athletes at 6:05 p.m. Junior Adriana Cook is scheduled to compete.
Saturday events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the pole vault and long jump.
