Track and Field Prepares for UCF Test|
March 22, 2012
ORLANDO, Fla.- The Marshall University women’s track and field team will return to UCF for its second meet in a week’s time as it prepares to go head-to-head with some of the top schools in the nation at the UCF Invitational this Friday through Saturday at the UCF Track Complex.
Last weekend’s Black and Gold Challenge was a rehearsal of sorts for the Thundering Herd as it participated in its first outdoor event of the spring 2012 season. Juniors Vanessa Jules and Kelley Mortakis were amongst those who placed first in their respective events, and they – along with the rest of their Herd teammates – will be looking for more success at this weekend’s UCF Invitational.
The Herd and the Golden Knights will be just two of the many teams competing at the invitational, as FIU, Princeton, Virginia Tech, Baylor, Cincinnati, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, and Florida headline a list of other strong competitors who will be present at the event. The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday at 2:00 with the javelin throw, and will conclude on Saturday with the 4x400m relay at 4:40 p.m.
No live stats will be available during the meet, but updates and recaps can be found by visiting the official website of the Marshall track and field team, or by following the squad on twitter @herd_zone. Heat sheets with times and event participants can be found by clicking the link below.
