April 5, 2012
ATHENS, Ohio- The Marshall University women’s track and field team will butt heads with the Bobcats of Ohio University this Saturday in an outdoor dual meet at the Bobcats’ Goldsberry Track.
Officially titled the “Ohio Women’s Team Challenge,” the meet will feature athletes from both schools going head-to-head in various track and field events. It will be the Thundering Herd’s first outdoor meet since competing at the UCF Invitational some two weeks ago, and will give the team an opportunity to one-up its regional opponent in a woman to woman battle.
The meet will run from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and will feature Marshall’s two All-Conference members from this past indoor season competing both on the track and in the field. Vanessa Jules and Jasia Richardson will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the high jump and long jump, respectively, with Jules also slated to compete in the shot put, 4x100m relay, and 400m hurdles throughout the day.
Amanda Kennedy, who won the javelin throw at last year’s Ohio Women’s Team Challenge and broke her own school record in the event at UCF last meet, will be present to participate in the javelin throw at 4:30 p.m. The challenge will conclude with Brittany Carey, Hadassah Lynch, Amber Pierson, and Loren Dyer running in the 4x400m relay at 5:30 p.m.
