Seven Qualify for 78th Texas Relays
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Seven members of the Marshall University women's track team qualified to compete in the 78th Texas Relays, which will be held Wednesday through Saturday at Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. The Thundering Herd will begin competition on Friday.
The Herd will be represented by seniors Ashli Creal (Chicago, Ill.), Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.) and Kristin Herron (Frankfort, Ky.); juniors Karmen Collins (Slicklerville, N.J.) and Xavier Richards (Kingston, Jamaica) and freshmen Teniqua Sutton (Wesbury N.J.) and Terryn Webb (Beckley, W.Va.).
The Texas Relays is one of the most prestigious events in collegiate track and field. Over 5,000 athletes will compete in 125 events. Some of the nationís most decorated athletes will compete in the 2005 meet including Olympic champions Maurice Greene, Allen Johnson, Derrick Brew, Jeremy Wariner, Sanya Richards and Inger Miller along with other Team USA members. Competing collegiate teams include seven of the top-10 finishers from the 2004 NCAA Championships.
Preliminary heats will begin at 9:30 a.m. (central time) on Friday. Field events are slated to begin at 10.
