HUNTINGTON, W.Va.—The Marshall University track and field team is set for an eventful weekend with athletes competing at two separate meets hosted by ACC schools.

The majority of Herd athletes competing this weekend will be in Charlottesville, Virginia at the University of Virginia Challenge. The meet gets underway at 11 a.m. ET on Friday and runs until late Saturday night. Sophomore Hasana Clark is scheduled to compete in the first event of the meet on Friday, the women’s hammer throw.

Freshman Denisha West and senior Antonique Butler are also scheduled to compete early Friday in the triple jump. In the first running event of the day, the 100 meter dash at 1:30 p.m., seniors Hope Julmiste and Kametra Byrd are scheduled to compete.



Graduate senior Alexis Montes is scheduled to compete in the javelin invitational at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, an invite only competition including several of the best javelin throwers from around the country.

The University of Virginia Challenge includes over 50 schools and 1,100 student-athletes. No. 2 Georgia and No. 8 Florida on the women’s side are scheduled to attend.

Meanwhile, the Herd will also send several athletes to Durham, North Carolina for the Duke Invite. Predominately distance and mid-distance runners, some of which are running unattached, will compete at Duke.

Freshman Mary Zulauf is the first runner to compete at Duke for Marshall, when she is scheduled to run at 4:10 p.m. Friday in the 800 meter run. Graduate senior Meagen Carter is scheduled to compete in the 5K at 6:20 p.m. on Friday, and junior Madeline Armstrong is scheduled for the 1500 meter run at 7:35 p.m. on Saturday.
