Marshall Track and Field to Compete at Penn Relays

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- Marshall is set to compete in the 112th running of the Penn Relays Carnival in Philadelphia, Pa. The Carnival will start on April 25 and conclude on April 29 at Franklin Field and the surrounding area.

The Thundering Herd will compete in the shot put, long jump, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay and the sprint medley relay on Thursday or Friday.

Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) and LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) will be competing in the shot put. Jones and Blankenship hold the best distances of the season in the event.

Sikeetha Shepard-Hall (Houston, Texas) is the single jumper in the long jump. Earlier this season Shepard-Hall qualified for the NCAA East Regional meet.

Participating in the relay events for Marshall are runners Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.), Breanna Jones (Columbia, S.C.), Hannah Kovarik (Hurricane, W.Va.), Tekisha Martin (Michigan City, Ind.), Carmisa Morris (Greenville, S.C.), Katina Morris (Erie, Pa.), Xavier Richards (Kingston, Jamaica) and Reshundra Smiley (Modesto, Calif.).

At the EKU Open on April 21 the 4x100 relay team of Smiley, Richards, K. Morris and Carmisa Morris broke the 4x100m relay school record with their time of 47.38.

This is the last meet for Marshall before the Conference USA Championship on May 12 and 13 in El-Paso, Texas.
