Herd Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS- The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its 2011-12 Division I list of All-Academic Track and Field teams on Thursday, compiling a list that included the Marshall University women’s track and field team as one of just 171 track and field programs to receive the accolade.

Institutions earned the distinction based on a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher, and with a 2011-12 GPA of 3.02, Marshall managed to earn a place amongst the nation’s top academic teams. Duke reported the top cumulative team GPA among Division I women’s programs through the spring 2012 semester with a 3.58 tally. Wofford (3.53) and Weber State (3.52) followed to round out the top-three programs. Amongst all conferences, the Big East led with 12 teams named to the All-Academic list, while the MAC and Big Ten followed with nine. Conference USA wasn’t far behind with seven teams represented on the chart.
