Volleyball Clinches Third Consecutive C-USA Tournament Berth

The Herd defeated FAU 3-2 on Friday to earn its spot

JUNIOR SEASON: Stein positioned herself to become the all-time assists leader in 2005 for the Herd with more solid numbers in her junior year...Stein had 1530 assists on the season, the third most in single season history at Marshall...Stein's 4,428 assists are second in school history, just 916 away from Nicole Frizzo's school record...Stein added 39 service aces to bring her career total to 142, just 28 behind Bridget Repsher for first 2004, Stein had 343 digs, third most on the team, 53 total blocks, and 107 kills...Stein registered a career-high 74 assists against Northern Illinois on Oct. 8 and then topped that number with 76 on Nov. 12 at Bowling Green...Stein played in 127 of the Herd's 128 games in 2004.

SOPHOMORE SEASON: As only a sophomore, Stein jumped to No. 2 on the school's all-time assist list with 1,579 on the year to up her career total to 2,898...Her 1,579 assists is the second highest single season total in school history (just 31 away from Nicole Frizzo's record of 1,610)...Recored 12, 50-plus assists efforts in 2003, five of which she tallied 60 or more...season assist total ranked second in the MAC...Stein's 11.36 assists per game ranked seventh in the MAC...recorded 47 service aces in 2003, the second highest total on the team...had a career high 65 assists against Miami on 10/31...had career high in digs on 10/10 with 20 against Ball State...recorded 13 double-double (assist/digs) performances...totaled 164 assists in the MAC tournament, tying Miami's Kathy Whalen (1990) for the third most in a single MAC tournament.

FRESHMAN SEASON: Put together one of the most solid freshman seasons in Marshall Volleyball history...was named to the MAC's All-Freshman team, the first honoree since Heidi Kuethe accomplished the feat in 1999...her 1,319 assists ranks as the third best single season total ever, and her 56 service aces is the second best single season and the most since 1991 (Gina Yeley)...had 11 double-doubles (assist-digs) for the 2002 campaign...had a career high 60 assists against Akron on 11/23, to go along with 17 the Herd's stirring victory over Ohio on 10/2, she had 58 assists and 18 digs; the 18 digs was a season and career high...had ten games with 50 or more the first game of her career versus Alabama (8/30), she posted a double-double with 26 assists and ten digs...had a season high five kills against UNC Greensboro (9/6), Miami (10/5), and Eastern Michigan (11/26)...served six aces against High Point on 9/7...had 12 matches with three or more service aces.

PRIOR TO MARSHALL: Was a four-year letterwinner at Hartland Arrowhead High School in volleyball and a six-year club player...also lettered twice in basketball...varsity co-captain junior and senior year, and awarded the varsity MVP award her junior year...set her team to the state volleyball tournament her senior year for the first time in the history of the school...awarded first team all-conference junior and senior years in the Classic 8 Conference...was an all-state honoree her senior year...played for Milwaukee Sting for three years...attended Club Nationals for the last three years, placed 13th in 2000, 11th in 2001, and 9th in the summer of 2002...won Indianapolis qualifier in club division this year out of 96 teams...named to the All-Star team at Nike High Performance Camp at UNC...her parents are Jim and Kim Stein.
