Volleyball Plays Charleston in Spring Scrimmage

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall volleyball will test its offseason progress with a spring scrimmage against the University of Charleston on Friday at 6:00 p.m. ET.
The match will be open to the public and free admission in the Cam Henderson Center.
The Thundering Herd is coming off an 18-13 season in which they went 8-8 in Conference USA play. Junior outside hitter Laura Der was named to the AVCA All-Midwest Region (HM) team after leading the team in kills, kills per set, attempts, service aces, and points.
Marshall will only be losing two players (seniors Katy Schad and Andrea Snipes-Booker) next season and welcomes five newcomers including two local Huntington, W.Va. and Cabell Midland High School products, Cassie Weaver and Taylor Riedel, as well as Elyse Panick from Chicago, Ill., Ally Kiekover from Grand Rapids, Mich., and Allie Kellerman of Louisville, Ky.
Charleston finished the 2012 season 16-16 and went 9-6 in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Malleri Hardison and Victoria Severo were selected to the All-WVIAC team following the season after leading the Cougars to the semifinals of the WVIAC Championships.
