Herd to Host Morehead State Sunday Evening in Last Spring Scrimmage

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-The Marshall volleyball team will host Morehead State Sunday evening at 6 p.m. ET in the Cam Henderson Center its last scrimmage of the spring. Admission is free.

The Herd, led by coach Mitch Jacobs, advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 Conference USA Tournament and posted a 16-16 overall mark with an 8-6 record in Conference USA. Marshall also features setter Sammie Bane, who was a 2013 second-team All-Conference USA selection, and has been among the league’s top setters throughout her career.

Morehead State, led by coach Jaime Gordon, went 27-8 in 2013 and 15-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference en route to a league title and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Over the past four years, the Eagles have gone 67-3 in OVC regular season matches for a 96 percent winrate, a figure leads all Division I programs nationally. MSU is led by outside hitter Courtney Smith, who was an All-OVC selection and led the Eagles with 2.92 kills per set.
