IRVING, Texas – Marshall University volleyball player Elizabeth Fleming was one of 12 student-athletes named to the All-Conference USA Preseason Team announced by league officials on Thursday.

Fleming entering her final campaign with the Thundering Herd has been awarded a number of accolades during her first three seasons at the setter position.  In 2009, Fleming earned second team All-C-USA recognition by averaging 11.17 assists/set and tallied a total of 1,218 helpers on the season.  She currently sits third all-time in Marshall history with 3,984 assists.  She also ranks 11th in C-USA history with 11.82 assists/set during her first three seasons.

She was awarded C-USA Setter of the Week on two occasions last season (9/8 & 10/26).

“I believe Liz has proven that she is the leader of this team and this could be a very good team,” head coach Mitch Jacobs said.

Along with excelling on the volleyball court, Fleming was equally as impressive in the classroom.  She was named to the C-USA All-Academic Team and earned ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American second team honors with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
