IRVING, Texas - Junior Elizabeth Herman earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week announced by league officials Monday afternoon.

"Liz has put in a lot of work into being a consistent player and I am really excited for her and for our team's first week of play," head coach Mitch Jacobs said.

Herman, an outside hitter, earned MVP honors at the Hofstra/Asics Invitational by leading Marshall to the tournament championship and a perfect 3-0 record.  During the tournament, Marshall defeated Binghamton, Rhode Island and tournament-host Hofstra.  She tied a career-high with 19 kills and had a career-best eight digs against URI on Saturday morning, before improving her career-best to 23 kills against the Pride that evening.

Herman finished the week with three aces, six blocks, 22 digs and a hitting clip of .276 (52K-18E-123TA).

"I look forward to seeing Liz develop as teams will have to key on her due to her early season success," Jacobs said.

MU is back on the court on Wednesday, Sept. 2, to host the home-opener against the Charleston Golden Eagles.  The match is slated for 7 p.m. inside the Cam Henderson Center.
