MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Marshall University volleyball team heads to Morehead State to compete in a non-conference match on Tuesday night inside the Wetherby Gym at 7 p.m.
MU (10-2) enters the mid-week contest after being on a nine-day road trip that featured eight matches. During the time away from Huntington, the Herd posted a 6-2 record, while competing in two tournaments and two non-conference games.
The Herd swept all three opponents at the High Point University Classic en route to taking home the championship. Elizabeth Fleming was named MVP of the tournament, while Emily Sullivan joined her on the all-tournament team.
After defeating North Carolina A&T and UNC Greensboro, MU traveled to Chapel Hill, N.C., to take part in the Carolina Classic. The Herd suffered its first losses of the season, dropping matches to Colorado State and Tennessee, while sweeping tournament-host UNC. Sullivan was named to another all-tournament team, her third time winning such an honor this season.
Fleming leads the Herd in double-doubles (5) and assists (451), while dishing out an average of 11.27 assists-per-set this season. Sullivan leads the team in hitting efficiency (.392), while Kristin Marcum and Katy Schad have recorded four and three double-doubles, respectively.
Morehead St. (7-3) enters the match after posting a 2-2 record at the Michigan Challenge in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Eagles lost their first two matches of the tournament to Missouri and No. 7 Michigan, before defeating Fairfield and VCU in four sets a piece.
Kaitlin Craven leads the Eagles offensive, tallying an average of 3.03 kills-per-set, while also averaging 2.53 digs-per-set. Kirstie Brangers tops the Eagles in assists (322) and service aces (15) on the season.
